Shrink fit holders require a thermal shrink unit (induction heater) for tool changes. The holder is heated to expand the bore, then cooled to grip the tool. This is not a quick-change system but provides the highest precision available.

What is a Shrink Fit Tool Holder?
A shrink fit (or heat shrink) tool holder uses thermal expansion to grip cutting tools. The holder is heated, causing the bore to expand slightly. The tool is inserted, and as the holder cools, it contracts around the tool shank creating an extremely strong, concentric grip.
How Shrink Fit Clamping Works
- Heat the holder - Use an induction heating unit to heat the holder bore
- Bore expands - The heated metal expands, enlarging the bore diameter
- Insert the tool - Slide the cutting tool into the expanded bore
- Cool and contract - As the holder cools, it shrinks around the tool with extreme force

How to Choose the Right Holder
- Shank Height (H): Choose based on your machine's tool holder/turret slot size
- Tool Height (H3): Must match the H dimension of your SPB Tool (26mm or 32mm)
